This is my very simple  site for information, pictures and anything else I can find regarding one of the rarest vehicles anywhere, the Alaskan Postal Jeep CJ-8's. I have links to some documents from the US Postal Service (USPS) that go into pretty great detail about all of the history to these vehicles, but here's the short version:

These Jeeps are '84 model year Scramblers ordered specifically for the USPS for service in Alaska that came from the factory with right-hand drive, a full World Cab hard top and doors, a cargo net for attaching to the rollbar, full carpeting, a mailbin where the passenger (left hand side) seat would mount and in some cases, an auxiliary gas heater for the cab. The hard top allowed for lots of safe cargo room and it was covered on the inside by 2-3 inches of sprayed-on foam insulation (which is a pain in the rear to remove). According to the VIN numbers, the postals were right out of the middle of the '84 production run. You can see a detailed VIN registry, including many postals, at www.jeephead.com

Only 230 of these were made and I believe there to be, at the very most, 200 of them still in one piece. I know I have personal or reliable knowledge of 10 that are not around anymore and there's certain to be a number more than that that are no longer with us.
